Leighton Hubbell, the creative director for the one-person design shop Leightonhubbell.com, has been designing logos, corporate identity systems, promotions, packaging design, illustration, print, web design and television for over 20 years. Clients have included one-person entrepreneurial companies, education facilities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies and major international corporations.
His award-winning design career began in 1987 after studies in the design of graphics, advertising, and typography through the Colorado Institute of Art and soon after at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in 1993. As an Art Director for DDB Needham Dallas Worldwide, he was awarded a CLIO for promotional work for Pepsi – one of the advertising industry’s highest honors. This was followed by a stint as Art Director of a Honolulu ad agency, where he was responsible for ad campaigns for several of the region’s largest hotel chains.
After a move to Southern California in 1997 he was Associate Creative Director for an national branding agency; working as the lead art director on several of the agency’s major clients, designing promotions, creating customer programs and re-branding established products. Many business ventures have invested the future of their companies in the design work of Leighton Hubbell. Clients have included businesses and organizations throughout the United States and other foreign countries. Larger clients have included Sheraton Hotels, Purina Pet Foods, Hanes USA, Lions Club International, Nestlé USA, Samsung and many others.
Leighton Hubbell has received over 200 regional, national and international awards for his advertising, logo design, graphic design and illustration efforts. His work has been featured in HOW, Print and Graphic Design:USA. Over three dozen books on the design of logos, identity, and graphic design have presented his efforts as industry examples. Leighton has also recently been a writing contributor to a handful of logo design books including Smashing Logo Design, on the effects of social media on the logo design industry, Logo Nest 01 on the subject of the power of a good logo design, and the upcoming edition of LogoNest 02.
